The garden consists of three terraces to the south with a field at the bottom. To the north is the track that passes the house.
In general the soil is fine and sandy with areas of rock and scrub... not ideal garden material, but we want try to work with it and not attempt to create something that isn't sustainable. In the summer the weather is hot, although a few degrees cooler than down in the valley, and in the winter we have cloud, frost and snow and the winds... well, they can be fierce at any time of the year!
There is no mains or agricultural water, so we irrigate the plants that need it by recyling the grey water and occasionally "topping up" with a visit to the well outside our village.
